FIXTURES:

The draw for the 2nd round of the Senior Championship was made last Satuday, with Causeway now playing Crotta o Neills. Times and Venue to be confirmed.

RESULTS:

The U13's lost out to a very strong Ballyheigue team in this final.

CAMOGIE:

Well done to Sara Murphy who was placed 5th in the All Ireland Poc Fada in the Cooley Mountains last weekend. A great experience for Sara, who no doubt will use this trip to her advantage over the coming years in this competition. She received a piece of crystal to mark the occasion, lots of gear, and got to meet stars like Brendan Cummins, Davy Fitzgerald, Bernard Dunne so well done again Sara from both clubs!

CAMOGIE FIXTURES:

U18 club Munster Blitz in Mallow with a start time of 10.30am this Saturday 6th.

Causeway GAA History:

At a recent meeting it was decided to do a history of the Causeway GAA club. A 7 persons committee has been formed to oversee this task. The members are as follow Seamus Buckley (Chairman), John Madden (Secretary), Roy Dineen, John Canty, John O Regan, Mike Joe Quilter and Helen Twomey.

Memorabilia:- if there is anyone with any photos, newspapers cuttings, match programmes etc relating to Causeway GAA club or any areas of Causeway history and would be good enough to give us the material to copy we would be extremely grateful. Please contact any member of the committee if you wish to contribute. NOTE:- We will ensure that all material given to the committee will be returned to the donator promptly, within one week, as we appreciate that this material is of great value to the holder.

GAA U21S:

Congratulations and well done to our U21s who won the North Kerry U21 Hurling Championship. The captain Adam White accepted the Paddy Kelly Memorial Cup from the Kelly family and the North Kerry Hurling Board. The Causeway boys played very well, the future of Causeway Hurling looking very strong indeed. The scoreline read 2-13 to 1-11. Well done also to the mentors John Joe Canty, Eamon Fitzgerald and John Mike Dooley. GAA U15s:

Congratulations to our U15s who had a decisive win over Ballyduff last Thursday evening in Lixnaw. The boys played some great hurling and proved themselves to be the strong and skilful side wining on a scoreline of 6-12 to 4-8. The captain Stephen Murphy accepted the Johnny Hussey memorial plaque from Mikey Leahy, Vice chairman of NKHB. Well done to the mentors Stephen Goggin, Mark Dillane and Liam Harty. GAA U10s:

Well done to our U10s who played in the NKHB Blitz in Ardfert last Saturday evening. They won their matches against Lixnaw, Na Gael and Kilmoyley just losing out by a point to Ardfert. They came second in the competition which is a great achievement. Well done to the mentors John Mike Dooley, Tony Quilter and Bryan Murphy. The panel is as follows: Daniel Mahony, Sean Sheehan, Dean Fitzpatrick, Killian Yallop Dooley, Dylan Murphy, Matthew Burke, Aidan Lane, Chloe O’Halloran, Cody Griffin, Taylor Griffin, Gearoid Quilter, Jason Goggin, Jack Sullivan, Michaela Barrett, Erika Diggins. Also thanks to Ardfert for their hospitality on the day.

GAA Seniors:

The seniors played their match in round one of the Co Championship last Sunday against Ballyheigue in Austin Stack Park. The match was fairly even throughout, we were up a point at half time, but Ballyheigue took their chances later in the second half and won it out by 5 points finishing on a scoreline of 1-7 to 1-12. Club Sympathies:

Causeway GAA club extends their sympathies to the Dineen family on the recent death of Bridie Dineen RIP, Ballinglanna. May she rest in peace.

GAA Fixtures:

GAA Outings:

U12s will be attending a blitz in Semple Stadium on Wednesday 10th August. Further details can be obtained from Mary Jo. Murphy. Also there will be a bus going to Croke Park for the All Ireland Hurling Semi Final on 7th August for the U16/U14s. There are a few seats still available if anyone interested in attending. Payment of match ticket and bus fee required from Adults. Contact Mary Jo Murphy if interested in booking.

Senior Camogie Poc Fada:

Huge congratulations to Sara Murphy who won the Munster Senior Camogie Poc Fada last Saturday in Thurles!!!. At just 16, and only on her second attempt, she beat her opponents with literally one puck of a ball. Considering she was up against senior Inter County players this is a massive achievement for Sara and the club is very proud of her!. She will now represent Munster in the Cooley Mountains Louth, on July 30th in the All Ireland Poc Fada Competition.

CAMOGIE Minor Inter County::

Kerry travelled to Roscommon on Sunday last in Round 2 of the All Ireland Competition, but Roscommon took the spoils on a score line of 4-8 to 1-8. Kerry are still in the series by securing a 1/4 place on their victory over Mayo. The draw takes place this week with games to take place on the weekend of 23rd/24th July.

FEILE na nGael::

Best of luck to the U14 team and their coaches as they take part in the upcoming Finals this weekend in Galway. Their host club Ballinasloe will provide the opposition for their opening game at 3pm. The club also wishes the Camogie team every success in their bid for National honours.

CHRISTY RING FINAL:

Huge congratulations to Kerry on securing their first Christy Ring title last Saturday against Wicklow in Croke Park. To the club members, John Fitzgerald, Eamon Fitzgerald, Colm Harty, Bryan Muprhy, Anthony Fealy, and Jason Leahy. Well done on this historic achievement. This will boost hurlings profile in Kerry and a coveted All Ireland medal for those players who through a lot of lean years, have finally got their just rewards. The club is very proud of you all.

U11 blitz in Dr.Crokes GAA pitch this Saturday 11th June at 1pm. Players will be advised by text of travelling arrangements. U14 blitz. Thanks to all the girls who travelled from the club to the Inter Co.Blitz in Mallow last Saturday.

U11 go games. Causeway 7.2 Ballyduff 3.0. U 14 Co. League Semi Final Causeway had a good win over Lixnaw and will now play Dr.Crokes in the final in Austin Stack Park Tralee this Thursday 2nd June. Intermediate Co.League. Causeway 3.11 Kilmoyley 1.9. Intermediate Co. Championship 1st Round, Causeway 5.11 St.Brendan's 5.12 after extra time. Causeway Comprehensive School won the Munster Vocational 1st years final last week beating Hazelwood College of Limerick. Darragh o Connor and Brandon Barrett from the club were part of the team. Well done to all players and mentors in the above results.

GAA RESULTS:

Intermediate Co.League. The team had a good win over Abbeydorney last week. They now take on Kilmoyley. U13 Co.League. Lixnaw recorded a good win over Causeway last Tuesday (17th). Congratulations to the Kerry senior team on qualifying for the Christy Ring Cup Final with a win over Down last weekend and to the Causeway players on the panel.

GAA & CAMOGIE CLUB::

We are hosting a table quiz Friday night 20th May in McHales starting at 8.30pm. This is being jointly organised by both clubs in an effort to offset the cost of sending both teams to the National Feile Finals in June. Your support on the night would be most appreciated. €5 per head, finger food, raffle and Karaoke to finish off the evening's entertainment!

GAA RESULTS:

Intemediate Co.League. Causeway recorded another win over Crotta and currently remain unbeaten in the league. U14 Co.League. Causeway also recorded another 7 point win over Dr.Crokes and are now into the semi final which is due to be played this Saturday (21st) at 6pm. Venue to be decided.

U14s - Causeway lost out in the final of the Feile to Lixnaw on a scoreline Causeway 2-6 and Lixnaw 2-9 but they will still go to the All Ireland Feile na nGael competing in Division 3 on weekend 24th June. Best wishes to them.

Intermediates won the North Kerry Intermediate League - Score - Causeway 1-10 Kilmoyley 0-12. U12s won the Division One County Go Games League winning all their four matches.

CAUSEWAY GAA CLUB FUN TRAINING EVENING:

Attention Parents of 5 to 8 year old boys and girls, future players for Causeway - Maurice Leahy wishes to demonstrate a fun hurling/camogie coaching session for boys and girls aged 5 to 8 years old in Causeway Community Hall on Wednesday 16th February starting at 6.30pm sharp and completed at 7.30pm It is very important that both child and parent attend. This is a great opportunity for young children to learn the basic skills of hurling in a fun way while parents can also see how simple it is to do. A treat will be given to each child at the end of the session complimentary of Causeway GAA Club. So please come along - it will be worthwhile.

Murphy Secretary, Joseph Lyons and Jim Cantillon Treasurers, Mary Barrett Juvenile Secretary/Children's Officer, John Madden Registrar, Evonne Diggins Scor Officer, Stephen Goggin Coaching Officer. Delegates and Committee will be organised at first meeting of officers. Thanks to outgoing officers and best of luck to the new officers in 2011.

GAA AGM:

The Club GAA Convention took place on Friday 14th January at 8pm in the clubrooms. Unfortunately some officer positions were not filled. Meeting reconvened for 8.15pm this Friday 21st January in the clubrooms where it is hoped to set up the club for the coming year. It is very important that all interested in the future of the Club attend. It is an opportunity for new people to come along to help the progression of their GAA Club.

GAA Club Sympathies:

Sympathy is extended to Ger McCarthy and family on the recent death of his father Bill McCarthy RIP. Also sympathy is extended to Cormac O’Connor and his family on the recent death of his father John O’Connor RIP.

GAA Club Congratulations:

GAA Juvenile Medal Presentation!:

The 2010 winning Medals were presented to our U16s/U15s/U14s/U10s in McHales Stretford End Bar last Friday night. It was great pleasure to have Killian Young present to hand out the medals to all the young lads. The support shown by the parents and coaches both on the night and all year long is much appreciated by the Club. Lots of spot prizes were given out, thanks to spot prize donators and thanks to raffle ticket sellers Patrice Diggin, Kerri O'Shea and Sara Murphy. A big thank you to John and Catherine McHale and the staff for the great hospitality given on the night and thanks a million to Killian Young for his presence.

GAA Social:

Scor:

Congratulations to Brian Murphy who won the Recitation in the Scor competition and will compete for the Munster title in January. Good Luck to Brian from Causeway GAA Club.

GAA Social:

A medal presentation for the juveniles will take place in McHales Stretford End on 7th Janaury 2011. This involves presentation of medals won in the age groups U15s down to U10s. Further details nearer the date.

Causeway Club Christmas Greetings:

The club committee wishes all members, sponsors and community a happy and healthy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

GAA AGM:

The GAA Convention will take place on Friday 14th January at 8pm. Please note that the Club will be seeking new officers for the coming year due to some current officers not going for re-election. It is an opportunity for new people to come along to help run their GAA Club. U21s County Final::

Hard luck to our U21s who lost out by just one point in the County Final against Ballyduff last Saturday. The final score was 0-10 to 1-8. Causeway were behind at half time but they moved up a gear in the second half managing to go ahead by a point. Causeway were in fighting form at this stage but there was a delay in play with a Ballyduff injury which seemed to break Causeway’s momentum. Ballyduff came back and leveled the game and went ahead with another point winning out the game in the last minute. It was unfortunate for Causeway but the club is very proud of the boys and great credit is due to them for reaching a County Final. It augurs well for the future. Hopefully a little bit of luck will be on their side next time. Well done to mentors John Joe Canty, Eamon Fitzgerald and Kieran Canty. Kerry Minors:

Hard Luck to the Kerry minors who lost out to Kildare last weekend in Newbridge in the All Ireland B competition. It was a very exciting game where extra time was played after a draw at full time. Kerry lost out by just one point in the finish of extra time where the scoreline read 4-17 to 3-21. The club is proud to have four players in the team – Tommy Barrett, Bryan Murphy, Richard Casey and Anthony Fealy.

GAA Juvenile Results:

Our U16s won their semi-final match against Kilmoyley winning on a scoreline of 5-15 to 3-6 qualifying them for the final. U13s lost their first match last Friday evening in a close finish of 3-9 to 3-8 against Lixnaw. Noel Sheehan U12 Blitz took place in Causeway last Saturday. Well done to the U12s who managed to win two matches and draw one match qualifying them for the final, but lost to a strong Ardfert side in the final.

Hard luck to the U21s who lost out to Kilmoyley in an exciting and close finish to their semi-final match on a scoreline of 4-15 to 4-12.

Club Commemoration:

The club commemoration and unveiling of a plaque in the memory of Joseph (Joby) and Anne O’Connell took place last Saturday evening with the Abbeyknockmoy team and members of the Coleman family all attending from Galway. The Abbeyknockmoy team played against Causeway Seniors. It was an exciting match which went to extra time with Abbeyknockmoy winning out. A special plaque was presented to the winners and it is hoped to make this competition an annual event. A presentation to the O’Connell family and to the Coleman family took place along with the blessing and unveiling of the plaque. Sean Kelly attended along with Jerome Conway. The plaque was blessed by Fr. Walsh and a blessing was given by Fr O’Connell. Well done to all in the Club involved in the preparation of this important memorable day including the Four in a Row committee.

Hall of Fame:

The Hall of Fame was presented to Brendan O’Connell on Saturday to mark his achievements in the hurling field. Congratulations to Brendan.

VHI Cul Camp:

Feile na nGael:

Hard Luck and Well done to Causeway U14s who reached the final of the Feile last weekend. They played Dingle, Ballyduff and Kilmoyley on Saturday in the playoffs winning their matches against Dingle and Kilmoyley qualifying them for a semi-final place against Ballyheigue on Sunday which they won on a scoreline of 2-7 to 2-8. The final took place in Ballyduff on Monday evening against Ballyduff. Causeway put it up to Ballyduff in the first half, but Ballyduff proved to be the stronger side in the second half and won out the final. Well done to the coaches, mentors and the boys.
