Causeway GAA Club Funday: Thanks to everyone for supporting our Funday last Sunday. Well done to all involved.
Senior Championship: Causeway and Ballyduff met last Sunday evening in their quarter final replay following the previous week's thrilling encounter. Causeway were fastest to get into the game with a point from a 65 by Paul McGrath and the same player pointed from a free before Padraig Boyle pointed from a free for Ballyduff, then Muiris Delaney sent a sideline cut straight over the bar and this was quickly followed by a point from Colm Harty. Following a foul on a Causeway defender Tadhg Flynn pointed a free from inside his own half and following this Padraig Boyle and Paul McGrath swapped pointed frees. Then Padraig Boyle pointed another free before Paul McGrath pointed his second 65 of the evening. Again following a foul in the Causeway defence Tadhg Flynn stepped up and sent over his second point from another long range free. Then it was Pa Joe Connolly and Colm Harty that exchanged points before Paul McGrath pointed from a free and this was followed by a pointed free from Padraig Boyle to leave the half time score Causeway 0-10 Ballyduff 0-5. Ballyduff started the second half all guns blazing and following a foul on Gary O Brien the referee awarded a penalty to Ballyduff which Ballyduff keeper PJ O Gorman sent to the back of the Causeway net. Kevin O Connor and Bobby Sullivan quickly added points from play to level the game, further points from Martin O Connor, Barry O Grady and Aidan Boyle had Ballyduff three points to the good with just over ten minutes remaining but then Causeway awoke with a fine point from Paul McGrath out on the sideline and a fine point from Tommy Casey at midfield and Causeway were back in the hunt. Then Causeway’s John Mike Dooley set up Muiris Delaney for the equaliser before Keith Carmody put Causeway ahead by one but this was quickly cancelled out by a point from Thomas O Rourke and it looked like it would be extra time again before Colm Harty fired over what would be the winning point much to the delight of the large Causeway support. Causeway will now play Ardfert in the semi final. Causeway Team: Tadhg Flynn (0-2f), Kieran Leahy, Bryan Murphy, Thomas Casey (0-1), Anthony Fealy, Tommy Barrett, Fergus Carroll, Jason Leahy, Keith Carmody (0-1), Michael Lynch, Muiris Delaney (0-2), Podge O Connor, Colm Harty (0-3), Eamon Fitzgerald, Paul McGrath (0-6, 0-2 65', 0-3f).
